Musigny Grand Cru 2015
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Chambolle-Musigny
Dating back all the way to the mid 1400’s, Domaine Comte Georges
de Vogüé holds a rather unique position in Burgundy’s history.
Currently under leadership of the 20th generation Claire de
Caussans with her cousins Marie de Ladoucette and François Millet,
who is the current winemaker. ‘Domaine de Musigny’ as they tend to
call themselves, owns the majority of the Musigny Grand Cru
vineyard. As one of the priciest wines of Chambolle-Musigny and
having high ageability, it is very well sought-after. De Vogüé also
bottles other big shot cuvées such as Bonnes-Mares, Musigny Blanc
and Les Amoureuses Premier Cru.
Chambertin ‘Clos de Bèze’ Grand Cru 2013-2018
Domaine Bruno Clair, Marsannay-la-Côte
Now sixth generation winemaker in the family, Bruno Clair
established the domaine under his own name in 1979 after internal
family dispute. His grandfather Joseph Clair established the reputed
Domaine Clar-Daü in 1919. Over the decades the family has
expanded their vineyards with acquisitions all over the Côte d’Or.
Currently these amount to 27 hectares across eight villages, that
produce 32 cuvées, including regional, village, premier cru and
grand cru wines. These latter come from their finest plots; a Bonnes-
Mares, Chambertin ‘Clos de Bèze’ and Corton Charlemagne.
Château Giscours 2005
Margaux, 3ème Grand Cru Classé
From 1995 onwards, Eric Albada Jelgersma managed
Château Giscours, reorganized its vineyards and modernized
the wine buildings on the estate. Since 2018 his children
Dennis, Derk and Valérie are at its helm, with general
manager Alexander Beek at their side. Since 1900, Giscours’
emblem is enriched by a mermaid (sirène in French) on top
of a crown. Giscours’ second wine, La Sirène de Giscours,
is named after this feature, as well as their white cuvée Petite
Sirène. Their third wine, Haut-Médoc de Giscours is brought
to life in 1992.
Château du Tertre 2005
Margaux, 5ème Grand Cru Classé
Château du Tertre also came under tutelage of the Jelgersma
family in 1995. Like Giscours, the estate was thoroughly
updated with this changed ownership. In 2021 they sold it
to the Helfrich family, as they wanted to focus on Giscours
and their Tuscan estate Caiarossa. In accordance with
popular trend, du Tertre produces a white cuvée Tertre Blanc,
but in an unorthodox way. These vineyards are located
outside of Margaux, are therefore unrestricted towards grape
varieties and thus labeled as Vin de France.
